Has there been any scuttlebutt as to the nature of JVR's injury? Broken bone?

Bill, if james Brown was the hardest working man in show business,
you are definitely the James Brown of the Hockey world!

Wouldn't mind seeing this when JVR returns, I think Laughton has earned a promotion:
G-Coots-TK
Lindblom-Patrick-Jake
JVR-Laughton-Simmonds
Weise-Lehtera-NAK
spare: Weal
I just don't see that much from Weal and I don't think he brings anything to the table as a 4th line player. I also think NAK in his very small sample has played well and I like to see him start getting 8-9 minutes per game.

If they can roll the 4th line out productively for 8-9 minutes a game, that will make this team a lot more dangerous. |

Three games until the quarter pole of the season. If the Flyers have 23 points at that point I think they are OK. No team in the Metro is lighting it up. |

This is what I had in mind. Weal isn't strong enough to center two wingers like James and Wayne. Laughton is more defensive minded and would be a better option. I think Weal is odd man out. Of course, Hak will sit someone else... |

Just my thoughts on recent surge; we are still turning puck over and having trouble clearing our zone. Biggest difference is we are getting saves. If goalie keeps us in game until we score, or get out of first period, we are in good shape. Special teams play is horrendous right now. Like what I'm seeing in terms of chemistry on lines and in d pairs. JvR return will be a boost. Interested to see who Hak sits. Weise has earned his spot.
I think we need to get Stolie some minutes to see what he's got. He was somewhat highly regarded before injury. He can't be any worse than Pickard. |

I'm not sure Stolie is the answer. I am of the mind that this season was a let it play out season. Hope Hart dominates in the second half of the AHL season and he is the guy here next year. I know people hate to throw this season away for the core. But I truly believe that this is Hextall's plan.
He brought in JvR to maybe win a round of the playoffs with a little more offense. But if they don't win a round I don't think he will be as mad as some think.
I do think the goalie plan altered a little when Neuvy got hurt again. I think Hextall is done with him and will let him sit until someone calls about him. There was an interview where the question was asked and Hextalls face just seemed to give away that he's had it with the inability to get healthy and stay healthy. |

The NHL is not a league for tryouts. If Stolarz is the odd man out in the AHL, what does that mean as far as his future in the NHL? Yes, he could be worse than Pickard. Pickard has also played well at times.

I find it hard to believe that our #3 AHL goalie would be the answer as well, but he needs to get some time. I would hate to move on from him without knowing what he's capable of. Maybe he's a back up AHL guy... |

Didn't mean for us to give Stolie NHL minutes. Just too crowded right now. Would hate for us to move on from Stolie without seeing what he can do post injury. |

I would play Stolarz. Pickard was a mistake. Stolarz has been good at the NHL level with the limited starts he got. He has never really been given a chance. |

If Stolarz is capable of playing in the NHL, why is he the odd man out at the AHL level? Players aren't given chances. They earn chances.

I think it's odder that Hextall hasn't done anything to get Stolarz some ice time, in the form of lending him out to another AHL team or even getting him some run in Reading. Maybe they can't just send him to Reading? |

My guess is that Pickard won't be here much longer, Neuvy is on life support and Lyon comes up to be the back up by the beginning of Dec which will allow Stolie to play. I still think that by mid season, unless Lyon is really playing well, either he or Stolie is used as part of a deal to bring in another experienced, solid NHL goalie to pair with Elliott.

There are some teams needing a goalie.
Islanders could use a young goalie. How about Stolarz for Ho-Sang. Probably not. but i think you'll see one moved pretty soon. |

I was surprised to read that he is the odd man out considering he was held in fairly high regard once upon a time.
That said, if he is the odd man out here they should trade him to give him an opportunity elsewhere. |

what value do either of them have? if anything they are a throw in to any deal just to move a contract; not a real part of a deal. if either had any value now they would have been moved imo.
at this point they should just loan one of them out to get playing time. Maybe that isn't an option, who knows.
what happens when glass Joe says he is healthy?
trade weal and a 7th for a 6th, someone would want him right? right? |
